Nolatron
Nolatron has been a leading producer of anti-tie down control modules for over 30 years.
Anti-Tiedown Switch Monitor - Series 4481

The Nolatron Model 4481 anti-tiedown switch monitor provides two-hand start control for machine applications which use single-pole hand sensing devices. The 4481 is unique in that the length of time of its pulse output can be adjusted by a potentiometer knob which is located on the outside of the control.

Features:

Anti-tiedown – The 4481 requires an operator to have both hands on start switches in order to start machine operation. This minimizes the possibility of the operator starting the machine while his hand is in the work area.

Control Reliability – The 4481 is designed to meet the OSHA classification of “control reliability” as defined in section 1910.217(13).

Redundant Output Contacts – The 4481 uses double “positive guided” output relays. Each relay is checked for proper status prior to beginning a machine cycle.

Hand Switch Inputs – The 4481 is designed to interface with dry contact single pole hand switches and electronic hand sensing devices.

Low Voltage Detector – If the supply line voltage to the 4481 drops below 90 VAC (115v operation), the 4481 will not allow the load to be energized.

Easy Wiring – The 4481 is wired using a detachable terminal strip for easy installation and removal.

Model 4485 Anti-Tiedown Switch Monitor with PLC Interface

The 4485 Switch Monitor is designed to provide two-hand control for machines which are using a PLC to control its operation. Most PLCs should not be used for safety applications because they are not of “control reliable contruction” as defined by OSHA. Therefore, an anti-tiedown control, such as the 4485 control, is needed in order to meet OSHA’s “Control Reliability” standards. [Sec. 1910.217(b)(13)].

Features:

Anti-tiedown – The 4485 requires an operator to have both hands on start switches in order to start machine operation. This minimizes the possibility of the operator starting the machine while his hand is in the work area.

PLC Interface – The 4485 has a solid state output which interfaces with PLCs that have sinking or sourcing inputs.

Anti-Tie Down Controls - 3380

Nolatron’s anti-tiedown controls are used in conjunction with two start switches to help protect machinery operators. The 3380 series helps to comply with OSHA, which requires a machine operator to have both hands on the start switches in order to start a machine cycle. This minimizes the possibility of the operator starting the machine while one hand is in the work area.

Both start switches must be activated within a fixed time interval to energize the output. This prevents an operator from “tying down” one of the switches while continuing to operate the machine.

The 3380 uses redundant positive guided output contacts which are cross-checked before every machine cycle. A single component failure will cause the control to shut down in a safe mode.

Features:

Double force guided output relays – Each relay is checked for proper status prior to beginning a machine cycle.

Control reliable – Series 3380 is designed to meet the OSHA classification of “control reliability” as defined in section 1910.217(13).

Pin for pin compatibility – The 3380 series can be used to replace the 3370 series controls with no modification to wiring. Model 3380 replaces models 3370 and 3370-M. If the normally closed contact (pin number 4) on the 3370 is being used, model 3380-C should be ordered as the replacement.

Anti-Tiedown Switch Monitor - Series 4480

Nolatron’s Model 4480 Switch Monitor provides two-hand control for presses, welders, molders, and various production machines. The 4480 also helps to comply with OSHA, which requires an operator to have both hands on start switches in order to begin a machine cycle. This minimizes the possibility of an operator having a hand in the work area when a machine cycle is started. If one or both switches are “tied-down”, the control will not allow a new machine cycle to begin.

Features:

Compatible with single pole hand sensing devices

Uses redundant positive guided relays

Meets the OSHA classification of “Control Reliability’

Uses a detachable terminal strip for easy installation and removal

The 4480 series can replace Nolatron’s 4470 series with no modification to wiring.

Nolatron Anti-Tie Down - Two-Hand Machine Control - 6010 - European Standards (EN574)

Model 6010 is specifically designed to meet the new OSHA and European safety standards which require that a single component failure will cause the control to shut down safely.

Model 6010 requires a machine operator to have both hands on start switches in order to begin a machine cycle. This minimizes the possibility of the operator having a hand in the work area when the machine starts. If one or both start switches are “tied-down”, the output will not energize.

Features:

Positive Guided Output – The output consists of two relay contacts that are controlled by separate relays. Each relay is checked for proper status prior to beginning a machine cycle.

International Safety Compliance – The 6010 is designed to meet the European standards for two-hand control devices (EN 574) and the United States OSHA classification of “control reliable” as defined in section 1910.217 (13).

CE Marking – Nolatron uses the CE mark to designate that the 6010 is in compliance with the European standard for two-hand control devices (EN 574), and that it has been tested to emissions and immunity standards EN 50081-1 and EN 50082-1 and the Electromechanical Control Circuit Devices standard EN 60947-5-1. The use of CE marked component does not imply CE compliance of the finished product. The end user is responsible for determining that his machine is CE compliant. Additional testing may be required.
